Sabine Ebonrow

Sabine grew up in a small idyllic farming community of no particular consequence. While there were a few halflings and gnomes among their number, for the most part the families that lived in the area were bunny and cat folk. As such, while the town's official name was Fallow Lane most everyone including it's inhabitants called it Bunton.

Little Sabine herself was the youngest in a litter of five bunnies born to a proud brown and black papa and his lovely white and cream furred wife. The children all grew up together, playing and fighting as children do. It pretty quickly became obvious that Sabine, despite being the youngest and the smallest was without a doubt the bravest/most foolhardy of them all. She took after her father a great deal, a former military man turned farmer/father, and even from a young age there was little that could sway the bunny girl from trying to take on the world single handedly. Whether it was defending one sibling from another or accepting ridiculous and dangerous dares from those same siblings.

It was during one of these dares, sneaking into their father's private study, that Sabine found the object that would eventually help define her adult life. Of course, she didn't know that at the time. All she knew was that daddy had the prettiest sword she'd ever seen hanging above his mantle.

Sabine wouldn't see that sword again until one very fateful morning. Several days after the litter turned six years old Bunton was attacked by raiders. By the time the bandits made made their way to the outlying farms, word had spread and Sabine's father was prepared to fight. Sadly one bunny and a rapier, even as well trained with it as he was, couldn't fight off the horde. Sabine's family was slaughtered, her favorite sister was stolen away and their farm burned to the ground.

Sabine herself was lucky. She took a blow to the head and passed out in the garden where the flames didn't reach. By the time she returned to her senses everything she had ever known and loved had been ripped away. Of course, not everyone in town fared as badly. As people began to rebuild, another family that had been friends with her own took her in and raised her along side their own children. While Sabine was always grateful for their kindness to her, the memory of that day festered. She had little left of her family save her name, her memories and her father's sword. That and a burning need for justice.

Eventually that need would fester and grown into a full on obsession. By the time she was eighteen she understood logically that it was far too late to attempt to bring the Bunton raiders justice, she could at least be sure that others like her never had to suffer a similar fate. Leaving behind her adopted family and the town in which she had been raised, her father's sword renamed Abolition strapped to her hip, Sabine set out for the nearest 'big city' to join the militia and finally begin setting right the wrongs in the world.

Sadly the world is not nearly as black and white as this bunny tends to see it. While Sabine excelled at her martial training, learning the political and social complexities that came with policing a large urban center grated on her nerves. It didn't help that corruption was extremely prevalent within the guard's ranks or that she was eternally passed over for promotion due to being small, cute and non-threatening in appearance.

After three years, Sabine finally gave up on city life. Disgusted and betrayed by her fellow guards, she handed in her uniform, burning that bridge as she went. Later that very same day Sabine once again found herself setting out into the wide world with little to her name but the clothes on her back and her father's sword on her hip. Her time in the city hadn't been a total waste thankfully. She had become exceedingly proficient at sword play. She became convinced that and the eternal fire that burned within her soul is all she'd need going forward anyways. At the end of the day, what more is necessary in order to hunt down and rid the world of cruel and murderous slavers?

And maybe, just maybe one day she'll find her sister in process.
